- Reasons volunteers give for wanting to volunteer:
- "...The satisfaction of building something well and physically rebuilding a town I care about."
- "..."420 is about several things: healing a building, building friendships through shared work, learning valuable skills."
- "...Helping the restoration of Helena: I feel that projects like 420 can take people from the town who don't necessarily know how to fix up Helena and help get them involved in some way that makes them care more about the downtown and historic Helena. Not only is it about physically fixing up Helena, but also fixing it up through creating a community of people that are interested in the town and some common goal."
- "- Learning skills I can apply to other projects someday (including my own house), Comradery, Cheaper and more interesting than working out."
- "Increasing the knowledge and capacity for action in the community: I personally feel much more empowered in a number of ways. It is true that I feel more equipped to perform construction work, but I also feel that I approach my life in a more straight-forward manner. It shows me the capacity for action and change that is within an individual and makes me more confident in going forth with changes that I believe in."
- "The ability to learn some valuable skills they don't teach you in school. "
- "I feel that the work is useful and fulfilling for me physically, mentally, and philosophically."
